Check out our story on Sam Ehlinger's increased chances of seeing the field in week 1 against the Seahawks.
Absolutely. Definitely not a desirable situation for Indy but they'll take what they can get from their backups at the moment. We saw it with Dak Prescott in 2016 (fourth rounder, great production in college) come in and lead the Cowboys to a 13-3 record and the number one seed in the NFC. Yes, he did have a dominant offense line and Ezekiel Elliot in the backfield but he won games and that's what counts (though that first-round exit at the hands of Aaron Rodgers definitely stung). Sam's college career is arguably better than Prescott's was and he's coming into a system that has a good track record. Jacob Eason is listed as the starter right now but didn't taken a single snap in his rookie season last year. Reich has to give Ehlinger some run at some point early in the season, right? The starter is injured... out 5-12 weeks is what I read... that means some sub has to play, right? Sam's one of 'em... not desireable, for sure but...
Exactly. It's really hard to count out any possibly considering how often this sport has players out due to injury. Heck, Sam has reportedly been doing really well at practiceI'm old enough to know that if anything falls within the realms of possibility, it can happen.
