As long as they have solid quarterback play from Card or Thompson, they should be good enough to stay in that range.

For me, the thought of a perpetual 8-4 team in the SEC, just doesn't intrigue. Yearly 10-2s, putting Texas in a 'little bit of luck,' break-through to the top position, are required.

IMO, Texas needs to be 10-2 going into the SEC since I do not think a middling Texas SEC record will allow Texas to complete the rebuild the 'Horns couldn't pull off in the B12.

Sark has a year or two to get back to the top tier, otherwise, it's gonna be a long first half of a Century.

I mean, he has a great foundation to start with, so I think by year 2, he'll be right there. This year, its hard to say. I still think 9-3 is probably the ceiling. losses to OU and Iowa State, and probably one that they should have won somewhere else.

He'll have the offense humming I have no doubt about that, but the issue you run into is the same with most first-year coaches -- it takes a good year or so to get the kids fully integrated into the system.

I think they finish the year strong, have momentum heading into the offseason, have solid success closing out the 2022 recruiting cycle, and start next year as a pre-season top-10.

10-2 in '21, my thought.

People considering ISU an automatic loss, after the way Texas gave the game away last year, are wrong, IMO.

Maybe OU and another-yet-to-be-determined team beat Texas to get to my 2. Hell, the way Texas plays OU tough. Maybe...?

Not knowing the psyche of the Texas team, now used to mediocrity and not having confidence in how to win could-- should Texas falter early, keep the program mired in the middle. Something intangible needs to click. It is my opinion the right coach could come in and reap the rewards of coaches' past work elevating the program.

Hey listen, maybe you're right. But the uncertainty at QB gives me, and a lot of other people, serious pause.

Maybe Card is the next Colt McCoy, or maybe he's just ok. We won't know until Sept 4, or more likely, October 9th.

Until then its impossible to gauge really. At least IMO

I don't limit my uncertainty to QB play. Perhaps the only 'set' units are the DL and RBs.

I've learned to do the 'watchful waiting' thing when it comes to a Texas football team.
